Mobile Mains Power Unit For Camping

Mobile Mains Power Unit For Camping – I’m not sure about you, but when I go camping, whether it is in a caravan, motorhome or RV, I enjoy spending a lot of time outside when the weather is good.

We are used to using a lot of electrical products at home these days and they can also be used whilst you are away camping as well. If you are spending a lot of time out doors, it would be a good idea to have a power supply outside as well. You could run an extension lead from inside your van to outside, but it could lead to a tripping hazzard.

One better solution is to use a combination of two products we advertise on this website; the 2-way splitter 16 amp hookup along with the fly lead converter 16 amp plug to 13 amp socket.

How does it work and how is it setup?

When you arrive on a camp site, one of the first things you do is plug in the power cable into the van and the other end into the EHU post. The second thing you do is put on the kettle of course!

Instead of plugging your mains lead straight into the EHU pillar, instead, you plug in the 2-way splitter and connect one of the ends to your mains lead for your van. That will leave you a spare 16 amp plug and into this you attach the fly lead, which will give you a normal 13 amp socket – outside!

This spare outside socket can now be used for anything you like really and will be suitable for things like charging mobile phones, pluging in your laptop, lights, fans, electric cooker or BBQ or for anything electrical at all.

It is a very easy and simple solution to do and there is very little cost involved, but the extra convenience is great. You could also plug in an extension lead if you need more than one socket outlet at a time.
